Return of item

A buyer purchased a scarf that has a tag identifying it as Pure Silk Made in Italy.  Buyer says it is not silk and wants to return the item - says item not as described.  Do I have to accept the return?  Photographs in the listing clearly showed the item as well as the tag.  Side note, the scarf was my grandmothers so I know where it came from - Italy.

I would kindly remind the buyer that the tag on the scarf states what it is made of.  But they may return for a full refund if they are unhappy with it.  It gets kind of iffy here though, because as you may know, buyers can return and state not as described and are most always granted the refund.  Technically, it is NOT an item not as described, but mostly only if they state in their return request that it is not made of silk (rather than just saying not as described), for which you can counter that it is indeed made of silk because of the tag.  But again, that is iffy too, because if you contact Ebay for help they will just give them their refund.  It sucks to have to pay the return shipping, which is really the only dispute on this...but a scarf shouldn't be too expensive to ship, fortunately!  Best of luck!

Only if you want the scarf returned before you refund the buyer.

Have a great day.

@fourbee2  This platform offers a MBG to all buyers.  Once the buyer selects INAD you will have to pay for the return shipping or eBay will deduct it from your account, regardless of what you stated in your own listing. Your best bet is to accept the return and issue the return label or you will also receive a defect on your selling account. It happens; it's a part of selling online. Buyer probably just changed their mind and doesn't want to pay to return the scarf. You can sell the scarf again to someone who will actually appreciate it.

Maybe the buyer just didn't like the scarf and doesn't want to pay to ship it back.   Or maybe the buyer really doesn't think it's silk (maybe).  Whatever, just take the return and relist it.  Report the buyer.

I believe this is still valid, though sometimes things move a little fast around here:  Reporting false SNAD
