I received a message earlier today from a buyer who bought a NWT pair of Reebok joggers from me. They received it on the 12th of last month. Today they messaged me and said "it is poor quality, give me a refund and you can have it back". I happened to see their message just minutes after they sent it and immediately replied that they should open a return through Ebay and I would refund after I received the item. So far I haven't heard back from them and no return has been started. I checked their feedback left for others. There was only 2 and both were negative. Out of 54 purchases they have never left any positive feedback. How should I handle this? Can they leave me bad feedback without giving me a chance to resolve the issue or could they be scamming? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Some don't leave any feedback unless they have an issue.
Yes, they can leave feedback for you.

You did the correct thing by telling the buyer to open a return case in ebay. Now you just wait until the case is opened. Then, and only then, you send the buyer a prepaid return postage label. After you get the item back you then refund the buyer.
If buyer never opens a case, then you are home free.
