Sold a ceiling fan to a buyer. The item was BRAND NEW. Have pictures of the item to prove it. Nine days after receiving, they said the package was open when the received it and it was missing parts (who gets an open package and waits over a week to say something?!). When I offered to replace the parts for them they refused (I shouldnt even have offered because nothing was missing to begin with), said they just want their money back. Because of Ebays money back guarantee, I now have to pay return shipping (which isnt cheap for such a large item) and who even knows what I'm going to receive in return. When I contacted Ebay they said theres nothing they can do and I have to accept the return.
How can this still go on? How is taking a picture of the item SHOWING its brand new when I sent it out not enough? What more do they want? Its so obvious to me that the buyer received the item and either took out what they wanted or changed their mind on keeping the item. Is there REALLY no answer to this STILL after all the years Ebay has been in business?

Since the introduction of the eBay MBG this is basically a scam buyers paradise.
Either, as you said, they don't want or need the item any longer, or, they are figuring you may not want to foot the cost of return shipping - just refund - and they get to keep the fan for free.
Why wouldn't a dishonest person jump at this chance.
I am sorry this happened to you, but a new box is not proof that all parts were in it, and eBay will not find in your favour. It stinks
