I was trying to find a way to tell ebay, that buying on ebay has become slightly torturous. All the advertisements slow down the page loading so much nowadays, I often give up on searching to buy anything unless it is critical.
And, I KNOW this is a huge reason why my sales are down so drastically.
ebay is losing money in sales, and sellers are dropping off, just because ebay has succumbed to the payments of advertisers.
PLUS, I was searching for a certain brand of purse, and ebay literally had an external ad on the search page, showing where the purses could be bought for less.
Isn't this counter -productive?

I've never seen any ads or pop-ups on eBay... you can even block eBay's "adchoice" with any number of malware/adware programs.

I had the same problem. Don't use internet explorer. Try Chrome. It's fast and works. I think explorer is having another issue-- AGAIN. I used Chrome today since explorer acted up again like you described.

I too am having the same problem, but only on a certain ebay site ebay.fr and with certain adverts that appear on it - Eurostar, SFR, Bougues Telecom, Renault Dacia and Made.com. For reference I buy on Ebay UK, Ebay Germany, Ebay Austria, Ebay USA and have never experienced these problems on any of these other sites - it is only Ebay France in my case.
Advertisements relating to these companies are causing my screen to 'hang' and the only way to resolve the problem is to switch to another non-ebay screen, move my mouse, and then go back to ebay.fr again.
As mentioned it is only these adverts today any other pop ups do not make the page hang.
It is particulaly a problem when bidding on an item in the closing seconds which as the original poster mentioned the buyer / ebay will be losing revenue.
I can not find any where on ebay France to bring this to their attention and mentioning these 'live advert problems' so hoping that someone from ebay IT actually reads this.

No, it is not the ONLY WAY to resolve the problem.
I use ADBLOCK PLUS a FREE browser add-in. Try it, and report back here. If you don't like it (but you will) you can very easily remove it.

I was actually referring to how I personally currently solve the problem. Re downloading software to solve the problem - the problem is with just one of the ebay sites 'Ebay France'. So rather than the problem being a generic browser problem or generic pop up problem it seems to relate to, as mentioned in my original posting, a specific site and specific adverts. So it's possibly an IT problem with ebay France's website.
But thanks for the info anyway.

I've stopped using IE for just that reason, so many problems. It is so frustrating.

What actual evidence do you have that eBay ads are causing you to lose revenue.
It is more likely that eBay has "hidden" your items from appearing in search results.

You are soooo right. I just had to wait 20 seconds or so after hitting the reply button. I used to buy a lot on ebay. Now it is just easier to go to Amazon. Sick and tired of the very slow response since the graphic Adds started. Ebay better fix it or they will lose a lot of customers.

I am having the exact same problem,it's not just on IE,I use Firefox,I have to wait sometimes 2-5 minutes for all the ads to appear to click on anything or else a big "not responding" banner appears. What an enormous pain in the butt!

Really thanks for the ADDBLOCK PLUS recommendation, I've just installed it and looks like it really works. Lately I noticed the eBay pages are loading constantly ad contents in the background, I mean constantly over and over again not matter how long ago the main content of the page has been loaded, it is even shown in the bottom right corner, the pages that are being loaded, they are all ads and cause the search results to hang for seconds while scrolling. Sometimes it also plays a video somewhere in the background, you can't see it, only you can hear it, so you can't close it either as there is no ad to be seen, only the sound of it all of sudden, so it makes one think this is becoming insane really. This extension wiped the pages of ALL ads. Thanks a lot.

I agree that ebay has problems!! I just lost out on an auction because the site froze when I tried to up my bid.
I also have had problems searching for items -- and you are right -- external ads are competing with EBAY sellers!!!! So many websites are turning to ... well, garbage ... but Ebay was always a reliable website ... but not any longer. They are shooting themselves in the foot by stuffing all these ads on their site -- really undermining the real business that should be done here. Very sad.
Just know you are not alone.

I *am* one of those frustrated buyers. Just tonight my screen froze when I tried to increase my bid ... and I lost the auction! And obviously, the seller lost out on a higher selling price as a result.
This company is going downhill fast. It's too bad because many people make a living at this and now their businesses are being stifled.
And from a buyer's point of view ... I have a low threshold for sluggish websites. It doesn't take me long to just close the browser and give up on ebay in absolute frustration ... when I'm trying to search for items to buy.
And all these competing ads ... it would be like a department store advertising some other store's goods!!! How sleezy and disloyal is it when Ebay favors making a quick buck on ad revenue over the heart of their business === their sellers and buyers?
Very sad how little this management knows about promoting their own brand -- *shaking head*
We should get a petition going to request they stop with the external ads. It hurts everyone.
Okay -- my rant is over now.
Seasons Greetings to all. Maybe things will look up in the New Year - in the meantime, may everyone have a Happy one!
Thanks for listening.
