Would a canvas blocker interfere with logon

Hi

I was referred across from this thread

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Member-To-Member-Support/Locked-out-of-account/qaq-p/31570783

Below is verbatim repeat of the question:

After successfully logging on to my account yesterday. I received an email this morning as I tried to log in saying "

It looks like you’re having trouble signing into your account.

Please select the ‘confirm’ button to verify your identity and access your account. (It’s only good for 24 hours.)"

I use a password manager with complex 24 character passwords. I NEVER have problems logging in.

using my regular Chrome browser I tried but could not get to the password reset screen so decided to test an incognito window. it generated no issues  and proceeded through to rest the password successfully. However, before I log in via my normal method, I would like to understand the issue.

All I can think of as a reason for the problem is an extension. In particular, a canvas blocker springs to mind:

Canvas Fingerprint Defender 0.1.9.
Unfortunately, it has no whitelist option or I would simply whitelist ebay.

Has anyone else had eBay issues using that particular extension?

Were you actually having problems signing in? Or did you accidentally click on the "Having trouble signing in?" link?

If not, such a message could be the result of someone with a similar username or email address accidentally attempting to sign in to your account using their password (which obviously would not work). Someone else using that "Having trouble signing in?" link on the sign in page would generate such an email to whichever account username or email address is entered into the username field at the time.

If you are actually having problems signing in, trying another browser or trying different settings or temporarily disabling add-ons or extensions can often be an effective way to diagnose what is causing the issue.

I understand about extensions causing  issues with website but would prefer to avoid the frustration of frequent lockouts while I figure it out. eBay isn't exactly the simplest place to reset your password. I had issues again just now and eventually needed to contact eBay and have a link sent. I'd prefer to avoid doing that too often.  All up I must have 'wasted' 30 minutes.Hence the question and specific mention of the canvas blocker, which was my most recent extension addition.

The problem started following a successful logon. I received an email message from ebay saying:

"We reset your eBay password and secret questions because we believe that your eBay password and username, or your email address and password, were used without your permission. "

Problems started on my next logon attempt.

I take the lack of response as nobody else who read the post is experiencing the same issue. My canvas blocker again. If the problem repeats I will update.

Yes, having issues with Canvas Blocker Firefox extension on eBay ONLY.   It has a whitelist but "ebay.com" doesn't seem to do it to stop the lock ups.
