I'm having a lot of trouble with the Watch list not loading properly. I get the message "Sorry, we couldn't complete your request. Try again later".
So I refresh several times, still getting this message, and then finally it loads properly after 5 or 6 tries. Getting to page 2 in my Watch List is almost impossible.
This has been going on for months and seems to be getting worse. It is making ebay almost unusable.
It behaves the same for me in Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

So I think I solved this issue.
My Watch List had grown to over 270 items. I deleted or moved items to another list. Once I had the Watch List down to under 200, everything worked smoothly again.
So glad I finally figured this out. It's been driving me crazy.
I hope this helps someone 😉

I have this exact same issue! Glad you figured out a resolution because IF you can manage to contact eBay they are useless on listening and assisting. It's too bad that correcting if requires removing items though. That's not right. If it isn't going to function correctly with too many items, they should just limit it to the numbers of items that will always function correctly.

I have far fewer items than that and it still won't load. I deleted expired/sold items on one of the few times it let me in, but it continues to either say 'sorry, unable to complete your request' or it just comes up with my purchased items list.
I use Firefox and my browser along with my computer are up to date.
WHAT is going on here??? It's been going on for a year or more. With its billions in profit, why can't ebay keep their site working properly? First there are problems with using paypal that neither company can figure out, now this. A waste of time and impossible to bid or buy if you can't load the items you're watching.

Not sure what the problem is with your Watch list, but if you are looking for a workaround, try using your Summary page instead -- it has a section of watch list items that might work more consistently for you.
If you need access to items on your other custom lists, you can try bookmarking this link to the old "all lists" page:

Thanks very much for the tip, that's what I ended up doing yesterday shortly after submitting this bug for discussion.
I could certainly see and understand if there was some limit to watched items, if that were the case ebay should state this clearly and have a message that comes up once a member hits the limit. Pretty simple coding, really.
As it sits, sometimes the watch list comes up - other times it doesn't. Trying to reload it multiple times until it shows up just pounds on their servers like repeated pings. Even if they want to ignore the customer service aspect, on a performance level it would be in their best interest to deal with the issue.
Thanks again.
