Tech "List an item" page problem. Please help?

Tried to list some items today (I am on FireFox in Windows 😎 & when I click "list an item" & go the the "What do you want to sell" page, I type in the box & the page goes fuzzy & locks frozen. I have deleted all cookies, cache & history, logged out, changed my password, & rebooted several times & it's still doing it. Can anyone help me please!

Fuzzy and frozen page? That description makes me think of the sort of effect that occurs just before a popup window of some kind appears. Not sure if eBay is using those, or if it could be malware trying to deliver an ad. If you are using an ad blocker, try turning it off; maybe a popup will load -- then at least you can see what you are dealing with and whether it can be dismissed. If you don't have an ad blocker, maybe try one.

A malware scan might be worth a shot. I like Malwarebytes, but there are others.

I would check to see if the same thing happens in a different browser as well.

Thanks for the excellent info. I will certainly try those.

It has happened before but normally a quick clear out of history bits does the trick.

Thank you again!

Just realized you are registered in the UK -- are you trying to list items on the US site? That might cause some problems.

Also, if you have never listed items before, it might be that stupid "getting better and better" eBay sales popup that caused so many problems for folks using Safari.

I don't know much about the selling side of things, not even enough to tell you if the US selling pages are similar. If the US and UK selling pages are different, perhaps asking on the UK community boards might be more helpful.

Good luck!

Thank you for the link.

I have not been selling long, so this is all a bit new to me.

I went to that page https://www.ebay.co.uk/sl/sell?sr=wnstart using Firefox 31 with no problems. Search box was active (and annoying autofill function was active since my rules only disable it for US URLS), but the page worked fine.

However, in Firefox 52 the page blurred ot exactly as OP shows. However, the search box was usable.

I spoofed the FF52 user-agent as FF31, reloaded the page, and the background image looked normal. Put it back to default FF52 user-agent and reloaded and it went back to normal. It blurred again when I typed something in the searchbox. Also blurred out using FF31 user-agent when I typed in the searchbox. Not sure what changed or what's going on.

Starting to think the blurring is a "scaling" issue - the page is zooming in when the searchbox is activated (there is a backdrop scaling function in the CSS that appears to be intentional - maybe to place visual focus on the searchbox)

The page uses the same background image and CSS controlling the image as far as I can see, and I didn't figure out what is blurring the image in FF52 - could be some other CSS, a script, functionality in FF52 that isn't present in FF 31

I don't know if the the OP's "dead" searchbox issue has anything to do with the blurred background image - I don't think so. The only linkage might be that it is the newness of OP's browser triggering both issues. (But in FF52 search box was fine even though bg image was blurred)

In short, I have no idea. 🙂

@berserkerplanet

If I'm signed in, when I follow your link in FF 64, Chrome 71, Opera 57 or Edge 42, I wind up here:

https://bulksell.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SingleList&sellingMode=AddItem&forcetool=CUB

which has no background for me. Not sure if this is because I have never sold before, so I may have something set up differently.

In Firefox and Chrome, signing out has no effect.

In Opera 57, if I sign out first, there is no forwarding; the page loads and looks like the OP's picture, although I can enter text. In Microsoft Edge 42, when signed out, the page loads with no blurring, but appears different (much longer, more text below).

Hmmmm. Odd.

Not sure why you are directed to the bulksell pages (pretty much the classic pages while the one in the URL is the new), but may indeed have to do with your not having a seller account set up on that ID.

The page appears to be scaling - zooming in, blurring out, and pushing the text at top and bottom off the screen. I'm not up on newfangled HTML5 and other CSS features which may be in play here, and don't know what exactly is doing it (and even if I did, bet I might be able to do is a webdeveloper console CSS rule that would need to be typed in, or a Stylish rule, etc, that no body wants to do anyway).

doug@ebay OP is having problems visiting https://www.ebay.co.uk/sl/sell?sr=wnstart with I presume latest version of Firefox, where the page is "scaling/blurring" and the searchbox is unusable, while eburtonlab and myself are noting different, but inconsistent behavior with other browsers and older browsers. (search box worked in all cases for both of us - just the odd scaling blurring of the background image. Don't know if you can replicate it.

I think something is broken in either the search or search autocomplete scripts or the CSS for that page and varies by browser.
