State Sales Tax

Why does eBay charge buyers sales tax on items that are not taxed in the state they reside.  West Virginia does not charge sales tax on Numismatic (coin, bullion, etc.) items, but when I purchase items from sellers on eBay, sales tax is added.  (See WV 2019 Senate bill #502 which went into effect on 7-1-2019.)

Check the category it is listing in. Tax is based on which category the seller listed the item under. If it is not under bullion then it will be taxed.

The items I am buying are numismatic items, coins, etc.  They should not be taxed, but eBay is taxing them.
