I am writing to you today on behalf of myself to tell you that whatever it is you did with security with Ebay in the last few weeks has made my selling experience intolerable. It’s to the point where I’m literally thinking about moving all of my future sales to Etsy.
Basically, whether I use Opera, Chrome, or whatever, I keep getting a security menu pop up every single time I try to either sell or revise an item, wanting me to call a phone number and tell them a code in order to unlock my account.
I have talked to a good 4 customer service reps so far. And, of course, was told different things. One told me that I should leave my browser history intact and not clear it. Which, truthfully, is NOT an option. When you do that, you leave your computer vulnerable to other site data that could potentially corrupt or even take CONTROL of your computer.
Another rep told me that Ebay only cares about the IP address. If this was the case, then when I cleared my browser history I should NOT have been getting the security code again, which I unfortunately did.
I have tried everything—adding ebay labeled cookie exceptions to always stay available after I quit my browser, changing browsers, and the list goes on and on and on. Nothing seemed to work.
Some people are more security conscious than others, which means that they ARE going to clear their browser histories, some people use different devices and all at different locations, etc., etc. So your newfound security rigidity is not a step in the right direction because it is far too limiting. In my opinion, you need to change back to the old system. If YOU are concerned with security, perhaps a voice mail system confirmation or a cel phone confirmation to enter a number would be MUCH better than having to call someone and even then end up getting different answers as to why something is happening each and every time. Even THEN, we shouldn’t have to do this so much. Ebay should be an EASY sales transition for people, not a difficult one. If this keeps up, you’re going to lose a LOT of business.

Same here.
This security code nonsense is getting very annoying.
