There have been multiple threads on the seeming broken Search function --- and little acknowledgement by eBay that there is an issue.
Today I was working on listings which still have http problems. As always, I ran a search to check on competitors and our place in the queue. What I found was interesting - in a bad way. alan@ebay or any other blue, is there a reasonable non-tinfoil explanation for this? Limiting visibility is one thing if a seller refuses to jump through all the hoops. Utterly refusing to show listings is a whole different kettle of fish. There is a problem here, eBay.
Exact same general (with noted exception on the second photo) search parameters. No preferences set, as you can see. FIVE results are reported, but only one shows. This is not our listing. (As I was typing this, two more results were returned but only as numbers, not actually anything which can be viewed.)
No filters other than "new", the mfr and the part#
Only filter added was "free shipping" - which returned an entirely different listing than above with the same search parameters. I did not change the search term - it changed itself (removed 'Total Source') when I clicked "free shipping". Again, our listing doesn't show even though we offer free listing.
Same exact search only with free shipping

Random snarky thought:
Wonder if whoever Ebay bought Cassini from got a warranty with their purchase....and if so, if that customer service department treated ebay like they treat us.
Honestly alan@ebay, there should be updates on the hour with this kind of issue. It's massively hurting a lot of people.

"been on hold forever so far"
Likely none of us can imagine why.
"there should be updates on the hour with this kind of issue"
eBay should implement a public (open to eBay members) bug tracker much like what's done for open source projects, using something like Bugzilla, Mantis, etc. As it stands now, it seems most of the bug reporting goes unnoticed and/or unaddressed by eBay, either because eBay doesn't interact here or the CS reps don't or can't properly report the issues. If the open source community can do bug tracking so can eBay, so there's no excuse for squandering the efforts of we users to find and report issues, and no excuse for the issues we report to go unacknowledged and unaddressed.

Today non return search list > Klipsch Ic-5t

I have found that Search works as it should if you click Advanced Search and just type the same criteria. It then returns normal search results.

That's wonderful for....nobody.
Sellers may know workarounds but buyers do not and they will give up and go elsewhere.

Not only that, but we just had a potential buyer contact us to see if an item - an active listing, mind you - is available for purchase because he/she can't make the purchase. When I look at the listing, it says we have "sold" this item but no sales history, etc.
We have NOT sold it, it's sitting on my desk right now, and it shows up in a search by eBay ID number (no filters). We've not made a mistake in revision.
alan@ebay, tyler@ebay, or any other blue who happens to be wandering through. WHAT is going on with eBay? WHEN will these catastrophic errors be fixed? Honestly, if you took the entire site, globally, offline right now, it would be more efficient.

list of search terms that do not work > 17" Rubber Bands - X 250 Mil Thickness

Having same problem, tried the advanced search deal and got all that were listed ... but the sold and completed were blacked out - couldn't click on either. Had to go back and set the search for completed to get ended and then the option for 'sold' was 'clickable.' Un-checked completed and got the active listing and the option to 'go back' to sold or completed.
Either something got screwed up during maintenance or when a new tweak was done or this is just part of the new master plan.
Ebay MIGHT do something about this when the only people that they really care about - BUYERS - start calling to complant that they can't see everything.

I called to report this and also mentioned that in an attempt to see the other items on ebay I used google...which provided me with not only ebay listings but listings on numerous other websites...many I was not familiar with until today.
How can this be good?
Do they want me to shop on other sites? If I was not a seller and just an average consumer and noticed that there were 19 results but the ebay seach is only going to show me one...after 10 minutes at the most I would be gone and trying to purchase it elsewhere.
At worst...the "improved" search is not user friendly. I am wondering if it is using the same or similar technology that is obnoxious when my phone or computer suggest what I might like based on whatever they have accumulated in my consumer profile?...and it is almsot NEVER right....
It turns me off to whatever they are suggesting. I dont' want my phone or computer thinking for me and I have to say that the "BEST MATCH" single listing that was shown was anything but a "BEST MATCH"....
Why fix or update something like a simple effective seacrh that isn't broken?

Not what-ever it is that enay want sme to see.
So much for buying on ebay, or selling for that matter.

I too have noticed missing items in search on sold items and active items.
Just stated a few days ago. I believe it will be fixed soon, but it is a problem for sellers as well as potential buyers so I do hope it is fixed very soon.
Thank you ahead of time.

I had this same problem on a search. I found that the 'Worldwide' filter displayed all the listings (more than even it said). The US & North America filters DID NOT display more, despite checking several of the listings (from Worldwide filter) and verifying they were 'Item Location : state, US'
