I am not sure if that is done by design or something else but It doesn’t serve well sellers and Ebay and would be nice if this was changed.
After completing order, buyer gets recommendations of item exactly the same buyer just bought but with lower pricing. It makes buyer cancel the order. Is that what Ebay wants?

I have never seen anything of the sort. So I cannot offer an opinion.

I am not asking for recommendations. It is about ebay recommending lower priced items after buyer checks out. I do buy on ebay and have seen it a lot. After I check out for example tape it would show me same tape for less. Or buyer buys cupholder and he gets to see same cupholder for less afetr completing /paying for it. So I am sharing it in technical issues not in regualr selling

eBay does not want them to request to cancel the purchase, as that would serve no purpose in increasing eBay's bottom line.
It is by design.
eBay feels that if a buyer purchased something they may also be inclined to buy another like item, so eBay presents those items for the buyer to consider. Sometimes they are priced lower.
It has been posted that it is likely that during the search the buyer did not see the other items. Depending upon "keywords" used, what is shown may vary.
Same as you, been there, had it happen.

Ebay has been doing it for years and they probably won't stop anytime soon.

That is unfortunate. You are right. I just though that maybe they can fix that since they fixing other stuff. Would be nice if they recommended other items or remind buyer to buy one kore in a month or so.

Not only do they do that, but they also have sponsored items and suggestions right in the middle of your product descriptions. They are skewed to buyers, not sellers. Unfortunate since there would be no ebay without sellers. Some days I don't even think they know I'm a seller. It's very frustrating to get suggestions to purchase an item that I listed 5 minutes before. Like, that's my freaking listing you are showing me. SMH Very glitchy.

I am sure eBay would rather you purchase something than nothing.
With buyer being flooded with like items it is like eBay is ok with canceling your order and purchase this one eBay found for you. Probably why sometimes after someone has selected something to purchase or won an auction they change their mind and do not pay.

This is a problem with the difficulty in actually finding stuff on eBay. try searching for something like a popular cell phone and the results can be confusing, Even with a specific search with model number and storage capacity you get different models and storage. even searching lowest price first you get sponsored listings that are more expensive.
Showing buyers the same item for less after paying not only impacts sellers, it degrades eBay as a whole since buyers will then think wait why didn't I see this when started searching and why did I spend more than I had to? Maybe eBay is not so great. So next time they shop somewhere else.
Seems a bad strategy all around
