Feedback Autofill Failing. Same Question as MANY Others Have

I've seen no response from eBay about this problem except for closing of threads that speak about the problem.

Why did you drop the autofill of prior responses for feedback comments?  It's a real time suck to have to type the same comment, over and over.

Feedback Autofill Failing. Same Question as MANY Others Have

I figured out my issue.
My password manager and Forms filler had taken control of the autofill option in Chrome. Once I reset that, all my previous entries reappeared. I know I used to be able to edit the entries in the drop down but, can't remember how. Anybody know how to delete or edit prior entries?

Feedback Autofill Failing. Same Question as MANY Others Have

Why would you have to type the same comment over and over? Doesn't your computer have a copy/paste function?

It does, of course, but there are a couple of problems with that:

  1. You have to go and get the phrase from somewhere, most likely your Feedback Left for Others tab, thus requiring you to go off and find that, scoop it up in the text buffer, then return to the Feedback form to paste it in there. This requires much more busywork then simply pressing a key and then selecting from a list of autofill choices (if, like me, you use different comments for buying vs. selling feedback, and for new customers vs. repeat customers).

  2. Copy-and-paste into that field doesn't work properly to activate the submission button at the bottom of the screen. Even though text can be pasted in, the button remains grayed-out until you actually click the cursor in the field and do something with it (e.g. delete a character and type it in again). That finally activates the submission button so that you can click on it to finish the process.

Autofill is a feature that was working just fine on the feedback form for years. It disappeared for a short while last year, then came back after some complaints, but has now disappeared again as of a month or two ago.

Sometimes autofill forms is a browser setting you can change.

Yes indeed, and I have it set to On across the board, but the page being viewed can override the browser setting if desired, which seems to be what is happening in this case. My browser's autofill works fine everywhere else, including the login pages on eBay, but the feedback form is where things have been going wonky recently.

Yeah that functionality comes and goes as it pleases. It is especially annoying that auto fill doesn't work consistently in the search bar.

In Firefox, when I use the "hide eBay suggestions" option, the browser's auto fill feature then becomes available for the search bar.

I  believe it is possible to delete most browser form entries by using the cursor to open the drop-down list, and then use the arrow keys to highlight a particular line. In Firefox I can delete those entries using the "delete" key; I think in Chrome "shift-delete" works, though I do not have any saved feedback to test -- that works on form entries in the eBay search field.

[Shift]+[Delete] was what I was looking for.

Thanks!

Nope.  No reset found in Autofill section of  my Chrome settings.

I've been dealing with the issue of eBay's feedback autofill drop down list for over a year now. When eBay updated their site (last time) the feedback autofill disappeared from any, and all browsers that I use.  I just deal with it by typing one or two word entries now. 🤢
