I know I saw a thread about this but I can't find it. I just listed this item yesterday and I have a question from a buyer but when I try to answer this is what I get.
Can someone fix this??

We got the same thing last night. Had to respond thru our email acct attached to our Seller acct.

I could only find the ones from yesterday that I have answered. So I don't know if there is a new one, or if there is some crazy glitchy thing going on.

I kept trying to just respond without an offer - it wouldnt let me - only if I gave them an offer. *sigh*
It is just 1 big glitch right now. Like the site is held together with twine and old bubble gum, MacGuyver style.

I got the same message when trying to question that came in yesterday. Must be some kind of glitch.

See if you can respond by creating a new message rather than using a reply.
Go to the user's feedback or profile page and use the "Contact" link there.

I don't know who the user is. When I click on it it gives me the message I posted.

That is the exact message i get when logged in to a different eBay account than the question was sent to. For me this happens when clicking on the blue reply button that comes in an email from eBay. That can happen when your email app opens your windows default web browser to ebay.com. my default web browser is always logged into my non-selling account so i cant answer and get that message exactly that you get. check which account you are logged in to when trying to answer and see if they match the user id the message was sent to? Or maybe not logged in at all when trying to answer Hope this helps.

I only have one account. I signed out and then back in and it still comes up when I try to respond.

OK that seems to be a different case. When you try to respond, where are you doing that from? Are you on the ebay web site in myMessages and if so which browser? I am aware of a problem responding in Internet Explorer but Chome, Edge, Firefox seem OK.
On the App?
Or trying to respond from your email application like outlook or gmail. Need more details to troubleshoot further.

I think it is a question I have already answered. And it is an ebay glitch. I have several of those at any given time. Like it says I have 5 items in my unsold and it is empty. At any given time, something is wrong on my page and it seems to fix itself. So I'm thinking that is what is going on here.
To answer your question. I'm using edge, but I have tried it from chrome too and I get the same result.
I am responding from the sellers page that says listings with questions. Then I go to the listing and it says respond to question. Then I get this error. It is not showing up in my email as if I got a question. The reason I think it is just stuck is that I answered questions on this item before this happened. Hope that makes sense.

I looked into this error in more detail. There are few possibilities all relating to the item ID and user ID in the link to answer does not have an open question or can't be accessed from the account that you are logged in to. Since you are logged into the correct account, then the system simply thinks there is no current question for this item / user combination. The URL to answer a question stripped down looks like this:
https://www.ebay.com/cnt/ReplyToMessages?M2MContact&item=NNNNNNNNNNNN&requested=xxxxxxxx
Where NNNNNNNNNNNN is your item ID. If you try using this link and replace the NNNs with your exact 12 digit item id (and leave off the requested bit) and you get the error, this most likely means that the item does not really have a question waiting to be answered from ANY user. Or some other similar issue.
That's about the best I can debug this without actually being on your computer.
Note you also said you did not know who the user is. That information is also available in the URL for the web page that gives you the error. If you look at that URL in the address bar on the page that gives the error you will see just after the NNNNNNNNNNNN there will be "requested=xxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxx is the user id of the supposed person who asked the question.

Is anyone still having this problem? I get the same error message, and I can't reply to messages from the listings page but instead I have to open another window and go to messages and locate it there.

go to the top of the page over near the right side where you can see my ebay as a heading. scroll down to messages and answer through that method. works every time
