AI Generated a description in French... then jibberish

I use AI descriptions with my own tweaks and never ran into this situation.
It generated a french description 1st photo and then when I tried to redo it (specifically for this post so I could report the next behavior) it gave complete garbled gibberish. Take 3 worked.

I don't or wouldn't use AI,  but basically I think what happened for your book search it pulled up a French seller's listing description from within Ebay or the internet and offered you that - 2/ then when you didnt like that it provided another filed catalogued entry in another S. Asian language- Vietnamese - that's not gibberish - just a different alphabet translated from characters to Western text- so its searching for a description acceptable to you. As a long time seller, also of books, its important, I think, to put in your own words- we used to not be able to copy others description as its important to represent content and condition accurately as it can vary greatly , including editions etc. I think its a slippery slope and this AI option is new to Ebay and unfortunately contradicts their previous policy of writing a text in your own words... then came the catalogue... we had a choice if we wanted to participate or input, now we don't so anyone can steal another's hard work including photos so its a real drag. I don't know if its worth reporting it as A1 is probably controlling the reports not humans. I just found out when I tried to report a listing twice that is violating policies the stupid machine is trying to read it and doesn't understand where the violation is because they aren't human and can't discern the errors and manipulation ! So it seems Ebay doesn't have enough staff to handle the requests.

I don't know that I have been helpful other than looking up Vietnamese for you !

Good luck. E

I really didn't look hard at the second one. I appreciate the tweak to my description of the problem. I knew the first one was French because I can read French.

I will give your thoughts on the reason it did that but from what I have seen it tries to decipher from your input in the item specifics and makes a description. It does draw on information that is related to the ISBN and so on, so I suppose it "might" do that but I use it quite a bit and never encountered such a mess.
On your thoughts about AI:
I do not let AI do all my work and in fact it can't. I won't drone on about how I use the tool to help me but it is very helpful if you can learn to use it successfully. Yes, it does have some sales hype in there and some stuff just has to be deleted because it's ridiculous but for me (and I am a tech first adopter because that is my field of expertise) I can manipulate around things and get the AI to represent my product in the description better than I can without it.  It wasn't always that way.  It took using the tool, letting it learn and me learn it, and no one should ever just push that button and carry on. That is a recipe for disaster because it hallucinates.. lol

Thanks again for trying to help 🙂
