What is this porcelain duck w/holes TA Made in Japan

Porcelain duck with 4 holes, one on each side, one on the back and one on top, marked "TA MADE IN JAPAN" on the bottom.  Is this some kind of planter, thats the only thing I can think of.  What is this called? I also need help with identifing the mark TA. 

This measures 4 1/4" tall. 

Any ideas??

I never though of a tooth brush holder. I"ll have to see if I can find one like it. I still don't have any idea though what the TA stands for.

This duck toothbrush holder is shown on p. 206 of Carole Bess White's COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO MADE IN JAPAN CERAMICS Book II. According to the entry, "...pictured in the 1934 Sears & Roebuck Catalog as Taisho Ware for $ .10."
