How do you display cards?

I'm looking for good ideas on a way to put my cards out so people who come to my home can see them. I'd like to hear from you folks to see what kind of ways there are to display them. Not particularly all of them, but maybe 50 at any given time. Aside from framing or an acrylic easel type holder, I'm out of ideas. Thanks for your ideas. Add a picture! Dan

How do you display cards?

I think the notebook-binder-type 4 card plastic holders look good for a temporary display, if I had some I'd use them for my current auction items. I recall some years back a company made comic book holders that were modular, snapped to one another and were easy to mount on the wall. For something a bit fancier, there are all manner of wood or metal glass-topped display boxes for coins, knives and other, larger collectibles. You really don't want to know how I display the few cards I have on display ... Jim in KC

Jim. I'm as curious as Joyce is about how you display your cards. I just hate knowing I have so much money in my collection, and don't have a safe and effective way to show them. Dan

How do you display cards?

OK! Now I don't display cards for sale this way but I have a couple of older Kansas City cards up right now. They are in US First Day Cover sleeves (about 1/3" bigger than the card) and clipped with small binder clips (on the plastic only!) and hanging on large-headed tacks on the bulletin board. Not too elegant, and I don't recommend it for valuable cards. Not as shocking as you hoped? Jim abashed (Now you go!)

How do you display cards?

Jim. I agree with Joyce. Both respectible, and economic! I like the little easel type holders I have 2 of my cards displayed in. They are made of an acrylic clear plastic. The bottom sits on the surface of whatever it's sitting on, and the display surface has a piece that is bent over the top to hold the cards in place. Nice set-up, but no UV protection. They are just a little larger than the card, and have a "Made in China" sticker on the base. I'm guessing they can be bought somewhere, but I picked these up at a yard sale. Can't find anything like them on Ebay. If my camera ever arrives I'll post a picture of them. Can you believe I sent payment 3 weeks ago, and my camera was shipped 16 days ago from California to Indiana, and I still don't have it! Seller has a great feedback record, so I guess it's laying around out there somewhere. I shipped a small box of postcards last winter to Florida. It took from Dec.16 till the first week of march before the buyer got them! Beat that. Dan

How do you display cards?

I don't display any cards but my father used to. Some of the best collectible cards he had were ruined by having them mounted on 3 x 4 easel exhibition boards for card shows. The boards were covered with a heavy plastic and over the years several of the cards stuck to the plastic. Of course I agree with others that exposure over time to the light can't help much along with storing in a damp area. Most of the collectible cards weren't designed to last a hundred years but here they are...thousands and millions of them.

I use the single card per page photograph books to display my Oregon cards, I just have a few of them plopped on the coffee table.
