Sewing people, help with "what's this called"

I bought this so long ago, I can't even remember how I found it, much less what to call it.

I had the same rolls from my mother. They're machine made, probably a polyester, or polyester blend (I don't think they're cotton). Resembles a crochet or tatting. Mom sewed lengths on some plain bath towels I had.  Really spruced them up

This is a machine-made imitation of hand embroidery, similar to Hardanger, but not an exact imitation. I don't think there really is a specific name for it.

When my daughter was little, it was popular for that fabric to be on the bodice of her dresses.  We referred to it as ruching/rouching.
