How do i reply to a discussion?

Some boards are limited to who can reply. 

Which "discussion" can you not reply to, and on what board?

It sounds like it was a closed group then. You would just have to join the group to be able to post there.

You might want to check how active the group is first though, and if there are any recent posts. Some groups are so inactive that there's not much point answering an old thread.
