Howdy! I would like to see a "Wanted" category on ebay. Folks would list what their looking for & other ebayers can message them back with items they have & prices they want. If an agreement is reached the "seller" can list the item on ebay & the want-ad poster can purchase the item. I think this can be done in the current classified ad section of ebay & should work well for all concerned. A lot of times vintage parts just don't get listed in regular auctions on ebay & therefore are harder to find. This goes for all vehicles.
Years ago eBay did have this feature but they unfortunately got rid of it. Doubt they will ever bring it back. I did like it though and sold quite a few items to buyers who were looking for a specific item that I hadn’t got around to listing.
They had a wanted feature but I believe eBay removed it because instead of sellers listing it they contacted the one wanting it and sold it to them outside of eBay.
If eBay would have masked the buyer user name that wouldn't have happened. The seller reading wants that had the item could have listed it and the buyer could look in the search for it, and be notified when one was available.
I think ebay can make a way for themselves to get their cut of the process. By hiding IDs or some way of monitoring the process. Having ebay handle both ends of the chat & keeping emails hidden would do.
