I had gotten a phone text from a guy who was selling a car supposedly selling his aunts car. Her "dead" husbands car that is just causing her bad memories. She emailed. She wanted to go through "ebay motors." Instead of going through the app we got an email. Saying its ebay motors and the phone support was down for maintience and we needed to email ebay support through a weird email address. Also to download an ebay buyer protection invoice. So we could buy said car. I'm not as stupid as these people think.  Beware of these people. Sad thing is they really did try to scam the wrong people. Even though I was never charged but because I use to work for a company that had some really bad clients the FBI really and truly monitors my phone and email. I dont mind that they do it. I'm not doing anything illegal never had. And at times it almost like a security blanket because now they will be interested in these other bad people. Just be aware and dont send these people money. Ebay won't email you like that. The real ebay will use the app. Also just be safe and dont download anything.

Glad you knew it was a scam.  Sadly some people fall for this.  

You said the "real ebay will use the app". The REAL eBay will NEVER contact a buyer about a motor vehicle purchase.  I just wanted to make sure that was clear to avoid confusion.

Hopefully someone else encountering the same kind of scam will come here and read what you wrote before they lose their money.  Thanks for posting.
