Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Well yea, It would have been better if they were made complete examples of and shitcanned. If we did that we'd be going away for a long time.

Went to monthly model meeting, and it was contest night (informal contest) so I got a bronze for my Porsche 956 LeMans racecar.

They used to leave the notes on what was good/bad on comment sheet so you'd know what to improve on.  Everyone else models tanks planes so I don't fit in the best but it is all in the spirit of plastic and glue. mind you I didn't bother with the meeting over the winter and then illness so no one knows me. Now that the wife works wednesday nights, then I may as well go out that one night a month to model meeting.

Wasted the afternoon on computer so time to go downstairs and work on stuff for the big contest in April. I;ve yet to try and master airbrushing nail polish.

Read in the paper this morning that the Senators will not loose any time toward their Pension Plan while they are suspended. So it appears that they are not losing all their pay or perks after all. I still think they should have been fired.

But yet I betcha if you were in the military and did military jail time, that wouldn't count towards time in service.    Why should I seem surprised. You can be a crack smokin mayor and not be fired.  But I get to lose my house due to high cost of prescription drugs.

Yup...Only in Canada...or North America.

Politicians are far from being like a soldier... as in Lead By Example!!!    Smiley Mad       damn these smileys..

No I just hate the style and lack of variety of them. Ebay's old emoticons were better.  But then, in the past year, what improvment did ebay make that was better with their website?

Maybe what's scarier than these politicians is their supporters that vote for them again, and the bunch of news media that cover for them and help make excuses.  Hard to believe they are in a free country and not communist Russia or some other dictatorship where they can die for disagreeing.

Makes my head hurt,

PS, I saw the coke mayor on the TV the other day...

I love the fact that Ford says he "may have" tried the coke while he was in one of his many drunken stupors. Great excuse, no? There is also another video of him ranting and swearing and threatening to kill someone over something that is not clear. Another drunken stupor? He should be impeached.

Happy Veterans Day

I just want to let you all know that I am a proud Vietnam Vet. I know we took a beating in the press and populace, but we were only doing what we were told to do. I did two tours in Nam from 1967 thru 1969. I went through the Tet Offensive of 1968 and I had to leave my wife and two sons at home at the time. It is now over 40 years since I had to fight my way through the jungles and rice paddies. Even though I was wounded, I do not regret my service to the USA. I was spit upon when I came home. Why? Still, I am proud to have served my country as my great grandfather did in the Civil War, my father did in WWII, and after me, my youngest son did in Iraq. We are warriors and proud to be Vets. Thank a Vet for your freedom and your ability to complain about it.

Thanks Captain Pete!  And Dave and everyone else.  My Dad was in Vietnam for a year around 64-65, he was a Doctor and got to patch some people together.  We did not go there with him either.  Sorry you got that kind of treatment, what a bunch of maroons, now that they are politicians needing votes, they pretend to be patriotic too.  So I really like my freedom and not just to complain about those goofballs (who also do their best to take away my freedom too, didn't I call them maroons already?).

Thanks again Pete!

Charles

I was called up but because I was married before I turned 19 they gave me an indefinate deferment, still have the papers, I don't think they would want me these days though, I lost a couple of good friends who would have served with me and then a couple more after they came home, really not a pleasent time, I listened to a couple of regulars talking about how much fun they had over there and the nashos hated every minute, makes you wonder doesn't it, I know the 11th is gone but Lest We Forget.

My thoughts go out to the guys that are real soldiers, the guys that were in the position to be shot at. My experience is pale in comparison to Pete's or any Iraq/Afghan vet to those back to VietNam,Korean,WW1,WW2.

If you still wanna know, 2 tours in middle east  in 2003, 2004 deployed to Sicily for a month (replacement for guys involved in bad car accident) 2007-2008 2 more tours to mddle east including time spent in Kandahar air field. I was an aircraft tech all these times so I am fortunate enough to come home alive/well each time unlike the many that weren't so fortunate. (be it life changing injuries,PTSD, or worse)

My squadron at the time screwed paperwork up so bad, I never got my medal from Afghanistan.

I did my 20 years of service, retired and did something else for a chnage of pace for couple years and then in 2011 got back in as a reservist in the aircraft support world.

I don't regret anything either. Be it good or bad, it was all a life expereince.  I even went on many short trips with aircraft and got to see a lot of jammy parts of the world so that was the icing on the cake.  Getting a pension since I was 39 is also a nice reward  🙂

Tell me it isn't so but I cranked up the snow blower yesterday just to make sure it would run when needed. The mower is put away. We wrapped th three shrubs tha need protection and today we will harvest all the apple off the tree and clean out the flower beds. Given time I have to prune the apple tree a bit too. Winter chores! I hate it!

I think the ideal place to live would be the Mediteranian.

Have a small vineyard, make wine. Oh hell, skip the work required. There's small vineyards that sell their stuff for a euro or 2 for a bottle of vino collapso.   I would love to be a 40 somehting y/o snowbird going to the Med for the winter rather than florida or arizona like every other Cdn.

Would you believe that we picked 196 apples off that little tree. I did some light pruning too. Only one more outside chore to do and that is clean out the front planter bed. Not today though. Rain is threatening. Now it is back to the dungeon.
