Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

My philosophy when I was in my mid/late 20s was everyone eventually gets a house, not just anybody gets a vette. So instead of buying a house, I rented from a buddy and bought the vette, and took some trips. Perhaps I would have been in a different situation at this stage with respect to amount owing on a house, but I'd like to think the experiences of being young without being tied down with house expenses was worth it.

Guess I was fortunate enough to have a working wife so we could afford the '86 Vette and the house at the same time. Also when we sold the AZ house and moved back here we bought a smaller house and paid cash for it. We made a bit of a profit on the old abode. I still have a car payment which I hate though. Should have kept the Vette too. :_| -- Edited by ginzokid at 05/30/2010 12:07 PM PDT

would it have been fun to have a vette on the rock? Never been there so no idea what roads are like. I was single when I bought the car when I was 25. Easier to have the toys before marriage, etc. Usually a lot harder trying to buy toys (should one's wife have a say in it) Plus the vette was long been paid for before I hooked up so can't make me get rid of it. :D -- Edited by dl85vette at 05/31/2010 3:44 PM PDT

The roads here are very bumpy and full of pot holes. So, the only place to really let the legs out of a Vette is on the Transcanada and that is rutty in most places. Not much for straight roads here either, so what you get is the joy of the excellent handling of the Vette. They do run a Targa Race here yearly on the back roads and most people use smaller cars like rally cars for this event. That said, there are a lot of Vettes around here that come out in the summer. The Chevy dealer says he sells around 5 each year. :-D

seems like the past few weeks it always rains on friday so can't do any work in yard. Sundays I don't feel like doing any more than I have to as I leave after supper. Back out to Brandon again tonite. looking forward to EI this winter. Haven't touch model RR in over 2 months. Any time I have I put it towards finishing a bike model. Clear up unfinished projects one by one. RR will take a lifetime anyways.

Just got back from a VERY filling brunch at our fav watering hole. Then we put up the pea netting and hung the planters and planted the pea and radishes. That is all we are doing this year. We love snow peas and have good luck growing them. I gave up on tomatoes years ago. Now it's time to relax....... B-)

Made another shelf unit to hold paint bottles. Freed up more work space as I had a plastic tiered thing that took up room. Started to accumulate Tamiya paints plus my Alclad series so this unit has capacity.

Posted a couple pics of the bike kits I've made in past year (that I never posted) The telephonica bike was just completed a couple weeks ago.

Wow! The telephonica bike looks very realistic. I especially like the tires. They really look like real rubber, or are they? You're good Dave! B-) They are probably more rubber than anything. They weren't the typical vinyl 'rubber' tires like the car kits. So washed in soapy water, some clear coat where the Michelin decals to be installed ,then couple days of cure time and then some flat coat over the decals and they blend right in on the tire sidewall. Sandpaper-scuffing treatment to the tread area. -- Edited by dl85vette at 08/26/2010 9:08 PM PDT

Last week before leaving to go to Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, I applied for a position in the diesel shop here in winnipeg. See what happens. Worked some overtime to bank so we could leave early so left at 1230 and 7 hour drive home. Home for Fri- sun (leave 4 pm sun) back to moosejaw next week, then off for long weekend, then we are doing an 8+6 shift. Work 8 off for 6, and another 8-6 shift. So pretty baked from working and long drive home, plus a some wine with late supper so I'm done. cheers.

so are you getting paid by the hour or piece work rates, as long as the dollars are coming in who cares how much work gets done, I know when I had my truck, if I sat in a depot all day and got my hourly rate it wasn't costing anything for fuel or tyre wear. ]:)

Get paid hourly, just frustrating looking for stuff in the weeds. Two hours would be wasted before we'd get out of the yard and then an hour drive to worksite. Not going back to moosejaw now, I'm being rewarded with some work in the city helping a maintainer do inspections and stuff.
