Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Worked all day today at LHS and had fun and time flew by and wasn't boring. Wish my regular job was like this. You're hooked! All that money you are making will be blown quickly. Trust me. I know! ]:) -- Edited by ginzokid at 11/08/2009 3:47 AM PST That's ok, that's the whole point of filling in several hours a month there. -- Edited by dl85vette at 11/08/2009 10:05 AM PST

Did another saturday shift and also monday I went in for couple hours to get rid of all their cardboard boxes. So my buddy appreciates the work I've done in back with the box disposal. More store credit racked up. 😄

So I got a temp job (still in security work) for 3 months at a bldg where I don't do much. More or less let empluees in , although their swipe cards will take care of that, and lock up at the end of shift. SO I work from 530 to midnight M-F. Leaves me lots of time in day to do other stuff. I haven't been a slave to hobby room but I try to tinker some in there. While at work there's not a lot to do I have designed my upper level coal branch. I've even made notes of some of the freight consists and what locos assigned to them. (not ready for operator stuff but hey I got the time to think. Put down on paper what sort of loads in/loads out each industry will take. So its all good. I got way too many cars. (shivering at the thought of the drawers full)

Dave, Go to www.Micro-Mark.com and search for item number 82916. It's a great system to plan operation and also keep track of your cars and engines. B-) I knew those things were out there. I am just in the early stage of figuring out what all should go where and when. I have so many boxcars that I don't think they will all see an industry. A good bunch of them will just be used in consists to become 'through traffic' from yard to yard. -- Edited by dl85vette at 01/22/2010 8:24 AM PST

Another perk to my job is its location (sort of, aside from being in not so great part wrt crime) across the street is tracks. Usually within 10 minutes of when I get work work, the daily local goes by (CP Rail GP9u or GP38) Lately, later in the evening a CP SD40-2 has been going by with some cars. I can usually hear the rumble of the sd40's prime mover. Adds some interest to my evening.

I tried years ago. No luck in photos turning out. Besides how long before people are tired of seeing GP9 and SD40? Although the way RRs are updating and simplifying their fleets, we will wish for the day to be able to see GP9 and SD40. Those are slowly being retired from most big RR roster and going to scrap or to a short line. CN is pretty bland around here for through freight. All powered by really modern stuff. At least with CP, you get the oddball loco MU'd.

Went for an interview this morning with CP Rail. Par tof it was behavioral interview. After it was all over I left with less than gallant confidence, even though I did answer their questions. It was for a signals & communications position. Got an email later in day saying I passed the interview. But still some hoops to jump thru and whatever for final selection before I know if I got it. -- Edited by dl85vette at 03/14/2010 4:58 PM PDT

Did an overnighter to ND. Went down to Fargo first. Found a hobby shop but wasn't the greatest. Picked up a DPM structure that the boy liked and I got a Montana Rail Link boxcar. I wanted to get a rolling stock from someplace I have visited. I was told by a customer back home here about the shop and as well a good railfanning location I didn'r know about. It was great. Found the spot and found a parked at siding BNSF with NS loco so while figuring out how to get it I ended up getting pics of pair of BNSF SD70 with DPU coal train. Then while waiting for the BNSF/NS to start moving another BNSF coal trail with older style 3 bay steel hoppers. I ended up having to shoot the NS fromt eh hiway on ramp. Some engines at facility in Grand Forks but with where they were parked partly behind building and piles of snow there was no way I was going to get anything. Between the misses and I getting a bit of shopping in and seeing some trains and having supper at the bronze boot steak house, it was a good weekend.
