I just ordered this water tower for the layout. It is unusual and I believe it will add interest to my layout. It should work well even though it is HO. I can always lower the stands it is on. After all the steamer needs this. http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/785-241 I did a search on ebay but wasn't impressed in what came up. Gene

Gene, Hate to tell you but I recently sold one that I built from the Woodland Scenics kit that looked pretty good. Do yourself a favor and look into the N scale water tanks. This one would really look beyond your wildest imagination for scale, it's big even for HO scale. It would be bigger than some of your engines, and it is a difficult kit to build; all metal and wire and needs filing and stuff you haven't tackled yet. Do a search on Walters for an N scale water tank. There are lots out there. Actually, if you are concerned about the yard, all you need is the water spout somewhere in the service tracks. There are lots of those out there. The piping from the off site water tank is underground. Oft times the tank was behind the roundhouse and the engines never had access to the actual water storage. Gene, I know you mix scales, but take my word for it. This would look very odd. B-) & :x

Pete isn't this the same thing only different manufacturer? http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-N-Bachmann-45810-Water-Tank_W0QQitemZ6064615938QQihZ009QQcategoryZ19122QQssP... The problem with these is they are so predictable. You sure I can't make the HO one smaller? Gene

Gene, That Bachman water tower is plastic, the Tichy Train Group tower is wood, and a lot nicer than the one by Bachman. Forced pespective only goes so far. You should think about buying some HO trains, it's the only way that the HO water tower will look right. CJ]:)

Correction CJ, The Tichy kit is plastic too. It is of a larger capacity tank and has better detail than the Bachmann tank though. Gene, That WS HO tank is made for a branchline and not mainline operation. You can, if you insist, shorten the legs but the spout will be grossly oversized and dwarf any tender it is supposed to supply. Stick to the N scale tanks for a better look. B-) & :x
