Gene, I use many different products to polish the car. (Mother's, Meguires, Turtle Wax Ice, Eagle One, Stoners, etc.) I have 4 detail sprays, furniture polish, 3 window cleaners, 3 tire shines, 6 or 7 waxes and polishes, paint cleaners, moisturizers, clay bars, 5 or 6 rags ie. micro fiber, terry clothe, diapers, you name it. It just depends on what works that day. Humidity is my worst nightmare. Barry, I'll just ignore that comment! CJ, The car looks great. I just took ownership of a 2008 Toyota Solara sle convertible and had a choice of black or white. I took white. The more I looked at the black one I knew I wouldn't be happy knowing the work I would have to do to keep it the way I would want black to look. I've already cleaned and waxed it twice and only had it about a week. I too have a box full of prewax cleaners, polishes, waxes, sprays, compounds etc. I've never used a clay bar but none of my cars ever have been less than smooth. I just got some Black Magic wet shine and tried it. Consumer Reports rated it as excellent. It seems to work ok. Zaino used to be my standard but as I get older I don't want or need to spend a minimum of 5 hours detailing ( and that was just the outside!). That was for my younger Corvette days. I even used to take the wheels off and did the backside along with the muffler and pipes. Not so anal anymore. (But that's not what my wife says)! Congrats on the award. I wash my car twice a year whether it needs it or not. In the spring after the salt is off the road and in the fall to get the summer road work (tar) off it before the snow comes and the salt. Detail? Does vavuuming count? I do that twice a year too when I change out the rubber to carpet floor mats. Isn't this the way everyone does it? B-) PS: The Vette was taken to the detail shop every other week. I never had the time or will to mess with it. That's what those mexicans were for.
