eBay android app and smart lock issues

Hi, partner has purchased a new android tablet and for some reason it won’t let him sign in. It works on his phone and via the web browser on the tablet but on the app it keeps coming up with a blank screen and sign in via smart lock. He types in his user details but it then comes up with invalid request 485310. It’s the latest version of the eBay app and its android 6. It won’t even let him search anything. He’s reinstalled the app several times. Thanks
