I downloaded the app and was informed that it has a Virus BAT 282 and was advised to uninstall it immediately which I did.

Hi! eBay should ONLY be downloaded from the following app stores:

 

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ebay.mobile

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/buy-sell-and-save-with-ebay/id282614216

 

These sites are where eBay officially lists its app. Anywhere else you download is a red flag

I have the same issue.  My malware scanner reported it has a Virus BAT 282. 

 

I deleted and reinstalled from Google play and still have the same alert!
