Most of the frequent changes are unnecessary & unwanted. My guess is eBay has an over-bloated software staff that feels they need to constantly be making trivial changes in order to justify their existence

It takes up way too much space. It's detrimental to the search experience.
I don't need a fat control bar on every screen. When I'm scrolling through hundreds of search results, I need all the screen real estate that I can get.
It's not reducing any clutter. All the meat is in "My eBay" anyway, and that's still a proper full menu.
Please, eBay, just give us the option to hide it for search results. Keep it on the useless home page if you insist on having it.
Remember that awful floating "filters" button that everybody turns off? Did they learn nothing from this? Power users don't want a bunch of useless fluff cluttering their tiny mobile screens. It's like having a banner ad, but nobody's getting paid. Just annoyed.
(As of this writing, I can still see the difference in some of the other pages. If you have a long watchlist or if you look at your purchases list, you can still get a taste of the old experience, because it looks like they haven't implemented the control bar on those pages yet.)
