I just bought a brand new Galaxy A7 tablet. I downloaded the eBay app before I can sign into it a pop up message came on and said I need to update. So I pressed update and it took me back to Play Store where my only two options were uninstall or open. I pressed open and it took me back to the eBay app with the pop-up message saying I need to update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app a few times. I can see the app in the background just cannot sign into it, due to the update message. I have cleared my Play Store Services cache and I have cleared my PlayStore cache. From what I can tell the tablet exceeds the requirements for the app. Please help

Yes, I tried all of those. I messaged the developer. They sent the same instructions. What I don't understand is ebay seems to be working behind the pop up message. I was able to hit sign in with Google before the update pop up message appeared and my info showed up behind the update message.

New devices often have old versions of Google Play Services and Google Play Store, which can prevent you from actually getting the latest version of the eBay app.
Make sure you have the latest versions of Google Play Services (21.21.16) & Google Play Store (25.9.19-21). If not, follow the directions here:

We have the latest version of google play etc, we make restart, re-install, etc but the ebay app can't work or update. Maybe is code problem or stop support old android system like 6.0 ?
From chrome i can access ebay but not from app...so fix it someone on ebay, so many people users have this problem !

This thread is from 2021. Likely requirements have changed multiple times since then.
Go here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ebay.mobile
Scroll down to the section that says "About this app" and use the link to find out of the app is compatible with your device and its current Android version if your device is registered with Google Play.
For my particular phone, it says Android 9 or later is required, though that might just be the earliest operating system that works with my phone rather than a limit of the eBay app.
If you are unable to update your Android version or get the app to work with your phone, you should still be able to use a browser to reach eBay that way.

Have Samsung Galaxy S8+ and was working perfectly until yesterday when I noticed I was not getting notifications from ebay. Now cant update either and go agree with all above. If it doesn't get fixed I shall have to use another selling platform.

According to the below post from an eBay rep, the UK stopped supporting older operating systems. Android 10 and iOS 17 appear to be the minimum operating system requirements for the eBay app in the UK.

If your device cannot upgrade the OS, you should still be able to access https://www.ebay.co.uk/ using a web browser on your device.
If links are automatically opening in the app you can change your settings and force them to open in your web browser, or you can delete the app which will default links to opening in your device's web browser.
