German helmet plate

Checkit-First of all, nice photos....Second-Looks like a German helmet plate. I need to see if I can ID the item in the center.

No help! I just ran up pre-unification Coats of arms with negative results. Jeeezzz! That eagle head is interesting! BTW, are you going to get back to me? Regards, Lloyd

This is one strange Helmet Plate... I don't remember ever seeing an eagle with ears before. In fact I think this is a Griffin. It may be for a plate for another country, like Sweden, England, or some other country.

Good knifefan, GREAT actually, (maybe?). I checked out Griffins and came up with "Scania" in Sweden. Same crown, same head on the coat of arms. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sk%C3%A5ne Appears you will have to copy that into your browser. Looks like the "Griffin!" Hope this may help?
