"rover" links in eBay emails not opening Android app

(This is a bug report, not a help request.) Item links in emails sent for eBay "followed searches" use rover.ebay.com. In the Android Gmail app, these links open in Chrome, without a dialog asking which app to use. From what I've read, an "intent filter" for "rover.ebay.com" needs to be added to the app manifest for the ebay Android app to let the link dispatcher know the eBay app is an option.
