Believe or not, there was a time where it was accepted to use opiates and cocaine freely. The Victorian era and early 20th century ladies would have their own tools or spoons placed into a necklace, broach, or bag.
I read a wonderful article on this subject while researching my old Pharmacy items from the turn of the century. These were some brazen women in today's standards!
From snuff to opiates which were considered a cure all for female problems, one could freely buy these drugs in a store.
