Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

This ring is marked 18K and 950 -- I believe for sterling (though someone suggested platinum?) and has an unfamiliar mark, followed by a "T." and the number "10."  Another use posted the same ring a while ago, but those marks were illegible, and no one responded, so am hoping this will help the identifiers out there!

Thank you in advance for your help -- Anne

@antiquarianne

Hmmm, boy, your purity marks are rather crude and not what I would expect on a possible high end ring. I believe the 10 is referring to the cable in millimeters,  950 is Platinum but usually this type of jewelry uses Stainless Steel for the cable.

Now if your talking high end designers of this type/ style such as David Yurman, Fred Force 10 they will use better precious metals and their makersmarks will be stamped clear and concise.

I have no idea where or who made your ring and I cannot make out that symbol to the left of the 10 stamp.

Maybe one of the other boardies can shine some light on this sorry, Silver

Thanks - the marks are much less grainy in real life - it was tough to get a clear shot with the iPhone camera.  Here is the same symbol followed by a “V” and “78”  — this is on a Greek Key bracelet for sale online and also is marked 950 and K18.

I’ve actually seen the same symbol and V 78 on another bracelet — and no one seems to know the maker.

@antiquarianne

Well that is clearer, give us a chance to view this a little deeper. You may have mistakenly hit my post as best answer and you can undo this by hitting it again.

I'll look further tomorrow but I have to work in the morning so it will be later. Maybe others can join in. This maybe a piece from Indonesia or China.

Let me tag or phone a friend who is very knowledgeable about locating things @wastingtime101 .

Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

Looks like a blocky version of the Omega symbol. If I have time tonight I'll do a search - if not then maybe this weekend. About to grab a bite to eat then I have more work to do and will be offline tomorrow. @silverstatetreasureboxes @antiquarianne

In the meantime, the photo did remind me of this query posted last year:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Jewelry/EARLY-YURMAN/td-p/33755466

Looks like nobody responded to that one and the markings were slightly different (it's doesn't appear to be the same exact ring, but close). If @shanamaidela found any info on the ring she had, perhaps she will chime in with an assist that can get you closer to an ID. Based on some of the info Silver posted, it could be the ring in question today is a replica of a high end piece?

Like I said, I haven't started searching yet, but if I can spare some time later I'll see what I can come up with.

I DID hit it by mistake - not that I don’t appreciate late the response, but don’t want to discourage anyone else from answering.
Anyway, I can’t see where to tap it again, so will just leave it - thanks!!

Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

Hi everyone - Well, I figured out most of it!   When I Googled in “K18 950” and “jewelry” several items with similar marks came up — and two had a Greek key design.

So…I began looking at Greek jewelry designers and lo and behold..wastingtime101 was on the right track:  It IS the Omega symbol (though obviously stylized)  and the letter and number after it are the official codes of the Greek State.  In one case,  Ωτ15 was on a piece of jewelry, along with the silver & gold marks and the designer’s name: Gerochristo.
In my case, I still don’t know exactly WHO made it (will continue the search) but it is Greek.
Thank you all for your time and help!!  Anne

Excellent @antiquarianne - good to hear Omega was a good lead and thanks for sharing the update. Hope you track it down in the end.

That is excellent news!  Poster @wastingtime101 is wonderful in this area and I see you got rid of best answer also ( always learning things here aren't we). Think I will jot all that down for a future reference 😀 Silver

Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

I tried to see if I could verify the use of the Omega as a mark on Greek jewelry, but I could not. I wasn't able to find a website for an assay office in Greece, or a government department that controls this.

Here's a link to Gerochristo's website, which does claim that the Omega mark is "the official codes of the Greek State".

https://gerochristojewelry.gr/inside-gerochristo/workshop/

@antiquarianne, that would suggest that your piece is from another Greek jewelry designer, but I couldn't find any others online that use similar markings.

From looking at Gerochristo's blog, it appears that the two letters in the mark are both Greek. Gerochristo's mark is Omega tau 15. Based on that, I would guess that the mark on your piece is Omega nu 78, Ων.78. I did try googling for that, but without any luck as far as jewelry pieces go.

Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

Thanks! That’s all really interesting and appreciate the time you took to write.

I saw another Greek designer, Konstantinos, who used the Omega, followed by a letter and a number.

There were also several pieces of jewelry with the same or similar marks, but no maker’s name, so am assuming it could be a designer that chose not to sign his/her pieces.   Thanks again - Anne

Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

It sounds like there's a Greek system of markings similar to the Taxco stamp used in Mexico. My Greek is subhuman at best, but I'll see if I can verify/disprove that concept.

Γεροχριστος  (just for fun, or your eventual description) is the name Gerochristo(s) in Greek.

I've seen the omega mark before and thought it was a super abstract human head, so thanks all for enlightening me.

Hi - does anyone know who made this ring? Maker's and purity marks photo included.

Shanamaidela gave up on this ring.  The ring posted in March is identical to my ring.  I will try to pursue other
"Greek" manufacturers.

@shanamaidela, I looked at the picture of your ring in your earlier post:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Jewelry/EARLY-YURMAN/td-p/33755466

Unfortunately, the marks on the ring are completely out of focus because it looks like your camera automatically focused on the mesh fabric in the background. So the ring itself is out of focus, and the marks can't be seen.

If you can try to get pictures that are focused on the mark so they can be clearly seen, we might be able to help you.
