Does anyone know what type of Brooch this is?

I have this brooch that tests out as sterling silver that I believe is a Victorian Mourning Brooch, with a twist.

It is a bit unusual in that you unscrew the center flower and can remove the black onyx ring.

Does anyone have a clue as to it's proper name/age are?

I am stumped.

No Markings but I am posting 4 of the images I have.

Thanks in advance!

Based on the hinge I would say more likely to be 1940s than Victorian, JMHO Smiley Happy

This maybe a form of what is known as a day/night brooch.  You would wear the plain metal and pearl brooch during the day and then add the black glass piece to dress it up for evening wear.

Not sure about that, The metal is kinda "rustic" if you know what I mean...

But maybe it would appeal to the SteamPunk stylists winkDSCN1882a.jpg

Imagine it with several different colors of glass rings, say in white, red, blue, green and the black.  Otherwise it makes no sense to have the pieces come apart the way it does.  JMHO
