Hello,
I'm stumped. I am keeping this ring BUT when I drop three drops of 14k acid on the ring band, it does not bubble. (if it was silver, it would bubble)
22k acid eats a test line on a testing stone. BUT 22k acid droplets, just sit on the ring and does not bubble but turns very slightly yellow. It leaves dis-color from the acid but shines up easy. (I left the acid on it for a good thirty seconds) The ring LOOKS silver except for a bar of 18k yellow gold across the center. Can anyone tell me what mystery metal this is? No makers mark. Stamped "18k" and "950". Thank you.

I'm thinking platinum and 18k. Do you have platinum test acid? If you don't and the mark holds strong on 18k, it might be platinum, which can also be marked "950."

I agree with Dream's comments.
Do you have any places where you live that buy gold and silver?
They are old hands at testing just this sort of thing and could tell you in minutes what you have to confirm one way or the other.
But please take it to an outfit that has a stellar reputation. There are many charlatans out there unfortunately.

A long-established pawn shop could do it.
