Howdy joolies, I have a necklace marked Benson Sam. I have Googled and have found a few pieces on ebay, but I was hoping for more information. Is Benson Sam a native American artisan? Some list him as Navajo but I can’t find anything to confirm that.

The chain is stamped sterling on the spring ring clasp. The pendant is not marked but tests as silver. Also, is this turquoise? I am confused as to how to tell what is or is not turquoise.

As always, any and all suggestions are very much appreciated!

Benson Sam is Navajo and a very accomplished silversmith. He's been in the biz since the early 1970's. Beautiful pendant!

I agree with Keith.. Beautiful and natural Turquoise, I to not think Benson Sam would use anything but the best!

Also turquoise has a black , brown , or yellowish green matrix running through it . Coupled with the Sterling stamps , and Native American design and hallmarks , you can be sure it's turquoise .
