The key to emeralds are just like other gemstones the 3 "C's" Emeralds are generally included. Color saturation is also important. The difference between Zambian and or Columbian is a matter of other minerals in it that give it it's colors. A Zambian can be just as good or better than a Colombian. The 3 C's determine it's overall value. Not it's origin. Treatments such as oiling may give it a better color. This is true of all Emerald spiecies no matter where they originate. Zambian emeralds tend to be pale compared to Columbians. But have fewer inclusions generally. The dark green glowing type is what you are after. Like the finest jade can be worthy of any collection or investment. Use the 3 C's to guide you and you won't go wrong. Trying to compare based on geographic location isn't the way to go. It may just be a preference not a point to judge when buying Emeralds.
