Red ink mark on label

Hi.  I've been with ebay since 2018 buying and selling but recently decided to sell vintage.  I posted a L'Aiglon dress that has a red ink mark on the  label but didn't think it was anything to worry about.  The dress has over 320 views, it has been for sale for over a month now but no one has purchased it.  I was wondering if the red ink mark means the piece is fake or if I'm missing something.  I purchased the dress several years ago on ebay and decided to re-sell it because it does not fit me.  Does anyone know what a red ink mark on a label means??

Red ink mark on label

It could mean anything. On modern designer stuff a mark on the label generally means it was sold at a warehouse/outlet or to a discount retailer so the mark means it can't be returned directly to the designer. On vintage stuff, who knows? Could be a mark from a thrift store to indicate price for all we know. There's gotta be a zillion fashion discussion groups out there. Find one specializing in vintage and post a photo for them to look at.

It could be anything from a laundry mark to a store/reseller inventory mark.  Items sold new but not eligible for returns will often have the entire label marked through - here this is not the case.  I wouldn't think twice about it.  I sell a lot of vintage and more than a few have had marks on the label.  I would not try to get that mark off due to the fully sewn label (at least it looks that way) and the risk of dye bleed onto the fabric itself.

That dress may not be selling because it's out of season but the L'Aiglon brand has high interest.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.
