Editing Posts and Responses

I frequently rag about the inability of posters and responders to edit their posts. I just learned (after all this time lol so I can only assume that you guys did not know either) that we can edit posts but the system only gives us a few minute window to do so. The edit link is at the top under options on each post but you have to re-read and edit quickly as it soon disappears. At least I now know it’s there and wanted to share.

I knew it was there but as you've pointed out, the timeframe is extremely short! I think it's a max of 5 minutes and sometimes, with a glitchy or slow connection, the time has run out before the edit is finished. I don't see a reason why there can't be a 15 minute window.

Totally agree with you and the editing time does need to be lengthened which is why I’ve never seen it lol.

That would turn it into a goat rope.  In 15 minutes many responses may have been made to a post. The post/thread would quickly lose continuity if extended to 15 minutes where info in a post could be changed/removed.

Personally I believe the term should be shorter than 5 minutes, or even not at all.

A poster could "reply" to their own post to ammend just as the need to do after 5 min.
