Comprehensive Authenticity Website?

I resell our old clothes (different ID). My husband always shopped at Nordstrom's so I didn't previously worry that much about authenticity. I was about to list one of his shirts and it just felt really cheap. He recently started buying clothes on eBay and StitchFix. I looked it up and I'm 99% sure it is fake. Question #1 - Can you guys confirm this shirt is fake? Question #2 is there a comprehensive site where I can educate myself about popular brands and what to look for? I googled a bit and half of the results were sites selling "replica" brands so my Google-Fu is weak in this area.

He never wore the shirt because it didn't fit right, and doesn't remember where it came from. That's fine. I'll cut it up and use it to dust.

Yes fake IMO. Tag and logo are a mess.

Most of us here think online guides are a slippery slope as although there are some good ones, there are so many with incorrect info. Better to buy what you know and familiarize yourself with labels that interest you at company boutiques or legit department stores.

Hi @puffwamcdooey

Although @jsales0 has confirmed that your t-shirt is fake, I find that side-by-side images help show a lot more differences than you might catch without the comps.

I've compared your label to one of my own as well as a comparison of your alligator applique to 3 different authentic Lacoste alligators. (Note to mods: the pictures I'm comparing are my own. There's no infringement!)

Thanks very much for your replies. I had another shirt that looks and feels much better, but due to finding the fake I would appreciate you guys taking a look.

So is there no website anyone would recommend? I'll warn him about buying on eBay. Does anyone have any experience with StichFix

Thank you everyone for your help. He is still hooked on Stitch Fix. Has anyone had any dealings (positive or negative) with that company? Or just have knowledge about how they may or may not be finding authentic clothes?

I'd never heard of Stitch Fix prior to your mention of the site. I visited and can't view items without signing up. (That's a huge pet peeve of mine when sites require you to sign up before you can check them out.) So I can't look at their brands to check for authenticity of those I know.

Personally, I hesitate to recommend a site that doesn't let you check them out anonymously. JMHO.

I used to be a member of Stitch Fix and loved it.  Haven't used it in several months though.  At the time I was a member, none of the clothes were "name" brands.  Are you saying the Izod shirt came from them?  If so, I did not realize they were now dealing with well known brands.  I know their other clothes sometimes were purchased from other online sites.  Getting an Izod shirt from them would concern me.  I certainly don't want to accuse Stitch Fix of selling counterfeits but even though I had a pretty high budget there, the clothes weren't  the best quality.  The only real advantage I got from Stitch Fix is I hate to shop for clothes and the style tips.

The OP's shirts aren't Izod Lacoste. Izod split from Lacoste in the early 90s, at which time Lacoste went upscale and Izod remained midpriced.

I've never seen Izod faked, nor have I seen Izod Lacoste faked. But Lacoste IS faked.

Did not know that!  I do know with Stitch Fix I was a subcriber for a little over a year getting a Fix every month.  The only brand I ever recognized was Tom's shoes.  I  honestly think they get a lot of their clothes from Amazon.  I was on a Stitch Fix FaceBook group and routinely saw posts where people showed items from their fixes that they found cheaper on Amazon.
