Question for the Computer/Electronics Experts Out there

Can a sound card, if defective, be repaired?

And can parts of one sound card be taken off and put on another one?

Yes a sound card can be repaired.

No you cannot pull parts off of a different model sound card and expect it to work.

It's typically not worth repairing electronics like sound cards since they're relatively inexpensive.

It would probably cost more to have it repaired instead of buying a brand new one.

Question for the Computer/Electronics Experts Out there

Thank you for the information.

The sound card I'm asking about is a '89-90 Creative Labs Sound Blaster Card w/CMS-301 Chips.  Unfortunately, I don't have a way to test it so that's the reason I'm asking.

Component level repair can be hard. Older stuff is easier to fix generally. Granted without schematics or another known working card you have little hope of fixing it.
