Beware of Power Supplies with obscured output voltage in their image

Look closely at small power supplies such as used for portable CD players. Even though you searched for (in my case) AC-E45HG for a Sony CD player - many show up that are not 4.5 volts but are 5 volts. The seller does not list the output voltage and VERY often obscures the output voltage on the label when showing the product. If the output voltage is blanked out they are probably trying to sell something that is NOT the same as what the manfacturer specified. Yes, it "might" work the same - or it might not. Possibly it will destroy your expensive device. I found several such listings and consider the sellers unworthy of my business. When buying an AC supply (most accept 110 to 220 as input) be very careful to verify the output voltage. Just because they list it with the OEM part name - it aint necessarily so.

I will start out by saying that you are preaching to the choir when posting on this or any of these boards, people seldom come here first before being screwed.

I do agree that if the description doesn't state the output voltage and amps and the non-stock actual photo doesn't show it clearly then just pass on the auction, don't bother asking either because if they can't list it correctly it means they are clueless.

I do wonder why Ebay does not shut them down? I see P.S. listed in the heading as it's voltage (in my case doing research) as 9.6 v a common voltage for EHX guitar pedals. Yet on the specs and pics the voltage is whited out.....I know from experience EHX pedal usually require a 9.6v PS not that it will not function at 9v it just adds more noise to the pedal output to the amp. Now I have not been taken buy this fraud but I have at times contacted the sell and told them myself to take the item down or correct the fraudulent add.
