The Victorian Age of Comics lasted from 1646-1900
Thanks to Robert Beerbohm, Richard Samuel West, and Richard Olsen,ph.D and others for their research and contributions which lead to naming this time period in comics and sequential art.
This time period includes many newspaper strips and one panel caricatures of current events.
The Platinum Age of Comics lasted from 1883-1938
As with The Victorian Age Comics many Platinum Age Comics began in the newspapers, characters such as the Yellow Kid, The Katzenjammer Kids, The Brownies, Mutt and Jeff, Barney Google, Snuffy Smith, Popeye, Bringing up Father, Mike and Ike, Buster Brown, Po' Lil Moses, Tillie the Toiler, Tailspin Tommy, The Gumps, Moon Mullins, Reg'lar Fellers Tarzan, Little Nemo, Gasoline Alley, Joe Palooka, Dick Tracy, Felix the Cat, Foxy Grampa, Little LuLu, Mickey Mouse, Little Orphan Annie and Hugo Hercules (the inspiration for the novel Gladiator which in turn partially inspired superman)

I found this beauty in a show case at a antique store.
I am sorry to say some one in the past has folded it in half.
I have it in bag and board with a phone book and a 10 pound weight on it trying to get the crease out.

This beauty is the oldest in my collection.
It might not be a true comic book but it is something I have not seen before.
