It is hand woven.  I thought maybe South American?

Hi,

It is a turkish Silk on cotton Oriental Soumak Tribal Rug with bird motiff.  If you google this, you can pull up the details.  Here is a faded one on ebay.  BTW, these are my favourite carpets.
