Unusual TIFFANY & CO Sterling Silver Serving Piece?

I am hoping that someone can help me to identify a rather unusual piece of Tiffany sterling silver. The pattern is Chrysanthemum but I have no idea what this would be used for. Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.  tiffany1b.jpgtiffany1a.jpgtiffany1c.jpg

Do a Google image search for this:

Tiffany vintage ice cream server

You will find a few matches that are quite similar to your, one of them is on sale on another website for $950.

I'm not totally convinced it's an ice cream server due to the shape.

I agree, its does appear to be a vintage ice cream server.  Its just too similar to so many other tiffany designs, and they have a LOT of different one, yet they all have basic similarities.  Good catch.

Not hefty enough. It looks more to like a jelly server - i.e., older style jelly dishes.

It's obviously meant to be a specialty serving piece, along the lines of asparagus tongs and tomato servers.

Is there a date on this piece? That would help to narrow the possibilities.

My thanks go out to everyone for your quick replies to my posting. I would have to agree with toomuchstuffagain35 that I'm not really convinced it's an ice cream server. I've been researching for several days and it appears that the ice cream servers have larger blades (scoops). They almost look like fish servers.tifficecream1a.jpgtiffserver4b.jpg

It is for ice cream, but you have only half the set.  Look at these images from a search on antique ice cream serving set silver,  or do your own image search using those or similar terms:

@diamondsells  A solid Aspic Server.

It looks to be the same shape and size of other Aspic Servers.

Could be.  It wouldn't be the first time I found multiples of a misidentified item.

If so, it's still only half a set, based on the images I found of this implement and another in boxed sets.

in the past, folks who "set a proper table" had a specific implement to serve and to eat every item known to mankind to be edible.  Small wonder we modern folk confuse them.  🙂

Whatever it's for it does look to be part of a "set". I was wondering if that was the case earlier.

I now find myself in dire need of a tomato server. (preferably NOT sterling due to the acid)
