Topographical and Non Topographical categories in Postcards

As a long time (1997) Ebay member, it seems to me that Ebay management continues to deteriorate since those managing Ebay have little real-world experience. To be a bit trite about it, most corporate managers today no nothing about nothing.

Why would a company abolish postcard descriptions for collectors that date back decades? Why would a company  adopt  arcane words like Topographical and Non Topographical? That falls in the same category as featured Google people of the day, "celebrities" selected because nobody ever heard of them, a fact that contributes to their wokeness.

This kind of gross pandering to some sort of demented ideal in Ebay is akin to TV and radio advertising about cars, insurance, etc. developed by people who never had a real job or in the case of cars, don't own one or have a license.

Ebay, wake up. Stop fomenting the myth that you are smarter than your users.

Many people have theories of how they think things should work and how they think things should work better.  Little or no experience, just theories.  Unfortunately, they often just take the ball and run, without anything more than an idea.  That may have worked at one time, and still may often work for a very small company just growing, but not corps, and not recently.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Respect, like money, is only of 'worth' when it is earned - with all due respect, it can not be ordained, legislated or coerced. Anonymous

It is pretty apparent that the folks who work for eBay are working hard (or hardly working?) to come up with crazy new labels -- i.e. topographical vs. non-topographical, re. the selling of postcards.

That said, I still can't figure out what, exactly, is a topographical subject vs. one that is not.

Anyone?

EBAY IS LOSING SELLERS AND BUYERS ALIKE in this INSANE new formatting they hired a group of 1st graders to develop. I am SICK of this...then they try to overcharge you on First Class Shipping, and say, for the last 6 months, 'it's a glitch and technicians are working on it". Nonsense - I'm waiting for the class-action to begin on this one.
Yes, I sell postcards and a DISGUSTED with ebay taking down all categories - they should pay us for trying to sell on their site.

It seems that the clueless people working for eBay have run out of things to do, so in order to let it seem like they are earning their paycheck they are going about fixing what wasn't broke in the first place.  The only thing they managed to do was lower our sales.

No one that I know who collects postcards collects by that criteria.

I have been selling on eBay for 25 years now and never has a potential post card buyer ask if it is Topographical or Non Topographical.  We had great categories before but whoever made this change knows nothing about collecting postcards.

Oh I could not agree more!!!! That and the "add other things" thingie that pops up now - all of which used to be easily found when listing postcards.

I guess they think it makes everything more....umm... streamlined? But in reality it's just one more weird and unhelpful hoop.  Today for some reason I can't even leave buyers feedback - speaking of unhelpful hoops.

They won't pay attention to the excellent points made here, but at least they still let folks make them (she says trying to find some kind of brighter spot ;o)

Ebay has been actively demoting , demeaning and devaluing the whole Antiques Collectible areas of sales , especially auction format . Its what brought ebay to national attention and built their mystique in the early years  . Slowly they have given all the benefits to the New ,get another one off the shelf, market. I started in 2000 and over the years have sent them many messages / feedback over their gutting of the Antiques Collectible promotions/benefits . What I have come to see over time is They Don't Care . Its been a long term plan to devalue any promotion of / benefits to the Antique/Collectible categories . Competition with Amazon is everything . They put people in charge of the category who have no clue about it because they don't care .
