I picked up this sword with an old Japanese sword that was pretty valuable (in the thousands), the owner didn't know anything about either, so I didn't get much info to go off of.
There are some Kanji symbols on the end of the handle, so I assume this sword is Japanese as well.
Measures 22" long
Weight 1 lb .07oz
No markings on the blade. (or at least not that I can tell)
The sheath has what looks like pearl inlays in the wood that make lizard/dragon designs.
If you have seen anything that looks similar on your travels, let me know :).

It appears more Chinese than Japanese to me.

I ended up getting lucky on a google search. Not entirely sure if it's the Rukai or Paiwan Tribe. However, The sword is certainly a tribal sword from Taiwan.

Looked at many Google images after you came back with the identification of your nifty find. New to me, and thanks for sharing this info.
