I bought a bunch of Millefiori glass necklaces at a thrift shop this weekend. They are all heavyweight and look to be old and very good quality. But, how do I know if they are Murano, Venetian or anything else? I see these ranging in price by a few hundred dollars and I don't know how to tell where mine would be? Any info such as age, maker or anything would be appreciated. So not to confuse things, I am posting photos of each necklace in separate listings. All of the necklaces are approx. 24" long give or take.

Are there any markings on these necklaces anywhere? It's too bad that they don't have clasps, because markings on the clasps would be the best way to identify these.
Unfortunately, there's nothing about the beads themselves that can suggest where they were made. The glassmakers in China, and more recently India, are very skilled and use the same techniques and materials as glassmakers in Europe. Lampwork and the Millefiore technique has been used for centuries. Even with more unique designs, the workers in Asia copy new designs as soon as they have been released, sometimes through business agreements with the workers in Murano and elsewhere.
I would suggest that you ask in the Jewelry group, because they might be able to tell you something about the designs, or when these were in fashion.

Thanks so much - they do have clasps - they are barrell clasps. They look old but are not signed. See second to last photo. In person, they are not shiny - they look very old. Thanks you for your info. I'll also check with the jewelry group. I've seen these range in prices and not sure where mine might be. Thank you again.

You can Google Bead Identification Forum and find specific bead groups.
