Meissen Mark - Real or Fake

Wow, I haven't been to the discussion board in years.  Surprised to see how it's set up now, seems less diversified.

Anyway, I would appreciate some help with a Meissen mark on band monkeys.  Please take a look at the photos enclosed.

Thank you, CynIMG_7177.jpgIMG_7271.jpg

Meissen Mark - Real or Fake

It is fake.

The Meissen marks are more like a skinny X, your's is a squished down X. Also, the blades should have a slight outward curve, yours are straight, and the hilts have a slight downward curve, again yours are straight.

Another way to determine is the quality of paint, I would expect the monkeys faces would have fine individual brush strokes for the hairs. And a close inspection of the flower patterns on the clothing (delicate and well spaced on Meissen) and the solid areas of coats (even, layered, brushless on Meissen) help to identify it.

Meissen Mark - Real or Fake

Don't despair that these are not $1,000 Meissen. As imitations, they are still quite wonderful and unusual, the monkey figures are loved by all. I would quickly buy and display these over the Japanese imitators of the same period.

These are the kind of object that I would encourage a collector to hold onto, the market will come around and they will be loved, regardless of being Meissen fakes, but as cool old stuff made quite well.

Meissen Mark - Real or Fake

Hi! My Grandmother collected antiques and I recently found this. Any idea if its a real Meissen and approximate value? I'm sure the crack will affect the value. Thanks SO much for any help.
