Sorry, but that doesn't look like any John Wayne (the actor) I ever saw. I'm bad on comparative facial recognition, but that doesn't look like 'him' to me. Any kind of history on the item?

Possibly done overseas working from a photo or 3rd person source who had never seen him before. It sure doesn't look like him. He did wear a hat though.

I agree that it looks nothing like John Wayne. But at least half of the "collectible" busts out there look nothing like their subjects, and a fair number of one-of-a-kinds are pretty darned poor. (Google John Wayne bust images for more non-look-alikes.)
I remember one statue famously donated to her home town that looked so little like Lucille Ball that it was finally replaced. The artist of the first one later said that he had "not been up to the challenge."

It for sure doesnt look like John in his older years but not far off of young year photos.

I have no info on it really. I bought from a sale and they could not find authenticity letter but said it did come with one.

poor even for the young years...

Yeah, but in the younger years of that photo (if that is actually John Wayne), he probably wasn't wearing a pseudo-cavalry hat, either.

The hat is telling me The Man From Monterey

1933? The Man from Monterey Capt. John Holmes "John Wayne"

John Wayne

That looks a lot far off which makes me feel even stronger that your statue is a faux generic rendition. You can find items like these in the backs of True West, etc magazines where there is no vetting for ad copy which means anyone with $400 can run an ad.

If, by some strange chance, that photo was the inspiration for the bust, then someone should have their 'poetic license' revoked - they failed the test, both written and practical.

Thanks for replies. I cant find anything so its probably something of low value if any and doesnt resemble him well. Any info on the "R" would be appreciated, that is the real?
